How to Make an Eco-Friendly Cat Toy

Looking for a fun weekend project that’s good for the planet and your cat? Say no more! If you’ve got a cardboard roll, some string, and a few spare minutes, you’ve got everything you need to make your kitty their new favorite toy. It’s simple, sustainable, and guaranteed to spark some zoomies.

Step 1: Gather Supplies

All you'll need are the three materials below.

  1. Toilet paper roll
  2. Screwdriver
  3. String, cord, or rope

Step 2: Pierce Two Holes

Use the screwdriver to pierce two holes on opposite sides of the roll. The holes should be about 1 inch from the top and large enough to thread your cord through.

Step 3: Prepare the Cord

Cut the cord to your desired length. Keep in mind as you measure, that the cord will be looped in half.

Step 4: Thread the Cord

Thread the cord through both holes and tie a knot at the two loose ends.

Step 5: Play!

Tip: Add some left over packaging paper to the floor for an extra crinkly enrichment and an added hunting effect for your angel baby.

And just like that, your cat has a new favorite toy—and you didn’t spend a dime. Whether you’re upcycling or just want to get a little crafty, this quick project proves that eco-friendly living can be easy and adorable.
